It is unfortunate that the

Trench Consul omitted to transmit

to his Government the whole of the correspondence which had passed,

had he done so,

I venture to think there would have been

no

occasion

for any complaint being

made to Her Majesty's Government. I enclose copies of all the

papers in this

case.

They will

explain that the boarding of the "Crady" by the Officer in charge

of the

Wali Police, which was

without doubt irregular,

was merely

in the way of doing

a humane act, for the Inspector

deemed

it necessary to have requested that

the wound on the head of a

boatman inflicted by one of the

crew should be treated by the

Ship's doctor, and to have told the Complainant that

if he wished to take any action, it must be

through the Consul.

Your Lordship will observe

that the correspondence closed with the French Consul's thanks for the explanations which were given to him, and as the affair had originated
